How to Prevent Apps from Using Background Data on Android Devices

Once you start monitoring the Cellular Data used by the apps, you may be surprised to see some apps using up your data, even when you are not actively using them.

This is happening because of apps like Facebook, Skype and others that have a compulsive need to connect to their parent servers and refresh data on a frequent basis.

Luckily, you can prevent apps from using up your expensive Cellular Data for background activities by following the steps below.

Procedure:

1. Tap on Settings > Data usage.

2. Next, tap on the More (or 3 dot icon) option located at the top right corner of your screen.

3. From the drop-down tap on Restrict Background Data.

4. Next, you will see a popup, tap on OK to Restrict Background Data on your Android Phone.

With this setting, none of the apps on your Android Phone will be able to use your expensive Cellular Data for background activities.
